Merrill Lynch Wealth Management Center (MLWMC) Fund

The Merrill Lynch Wealth Management Center (MLWMC) Fund provides students with an experiential learning opportunity to develop equity research and investment analysis skills through a collaborative educational environment.

Through the Investment Club and in partnership with the Merrill Lynch Wealth Management Center and the USF Foundation, students conduct fundamental research, prepare investment reports, and present investment ideas for review by faculty, advisors, and the Foundation. Students participate in the research and recommendation process but do not manage the Fund or execute investment decisions.

HISTORY & Impact

Spring 2018

The fund is seeded by an initial gift of $250,000 from Kate Tiedemann and Ellen Cotton and matched by a $250,000 investment by Lynn Pippenger.

Spring 2019

Professor Huijian Dong leads the USF St. Pete Student Managed Investment Fund, working alongside the MLWMC fund to present investment opportunities and portfolio management ideas.

Spring 2021

The Merrill Lynch Wealth Management Advisory Board is established, with “their two-fold mission is to 1) support/advance students’ experiential learning to prepare them for the workforce and 2) develop financial literacy programs for USF and the external community.”

Fall 2021

The fund grows to $600,000+, collaborating alongside the USF St. Petersburg Student Managed Investment Fund.

Fall 2025

Investment Club begins conducting fundamental research, preparing investment reports, and presenting investment ideas to the MLWMC Advisory Board
